The magic of Mandvi beach

Mandvi is a small town located 60 km away from Bhuj in Kutch district of Gujarat. It used to be the summer holiday destination of the Kutch kings. It is also famous for its four-hundred-year-old shipbuilding yards and used to be the major port on the western part of India. It’s a small town and easy for one-day visits from Bhuj. It has a lot of things to offer.

Mandvi is famous for its shipbuilding industry since the last 400 years. As you enter the town, you can easily spot the construction of ships, though not on a large scale but you can still see a few. It is at the entrance of the town, around 10 minutes before Mandvi beach.

is the best place to enjoy the sunset in the Kutch region. You can sit wherever you want because most of the time you will find this beach empty. Here you can relax for a long time without any disturbance. Only on Saturday and Sunday, a small fair takes place were locals come for the weekend.

Camel ride is the most popular activity on this beach with horse riding. The charges depends on how long a ride one wants to take. You can also take a horse chariot ride which mostly groups of travellers prefer.

The beach has many water activities to entertain you from banana boat ride, zorbing ball, jet ski and parasailing. These activities are a bit expensive and not worth the money. But if you’re good at bargaining then it might help you.

Food is the best part of the Kutch region. At Mandvi beach you will find a variety of foods which is good in quality and quantity. And will not cost you more than your budget. There are many restaurants inside the town as well. They serve good food at reasonable prices.

Mandvi beach is the best place to beat the heat of Kutch because it has pleasant weather throughout the year. It is one of the best one day outing spots from Bhuj. It is easy to to a day trip from Bhuj to Mandvi. You can hire a private car because the buses are not that reliable.

Walk along the shore side as the beach has a long coast line with large wind turbines on the right side. Mandvi has the cleanest water and coastline in the Kutch region.

The most famous and iconic place to visit in Mandvi is the Vijay Vilas Palace which was the summer palace of the king of Kutch. The palace is built from red sandstone and has Rajput elements in its construction. Many Bollywood and Gujarati movies were shot in this palace.
