Talking to locals makes the place come alive. It also helps us to know the place well so it makes it easier to travel in this type of a tense place.

9. Stay a couple of days

This place doesn't need any reason or explanation. Srinagar has many things to offer everyone. Never believe mainstream media that the situation is different there. You won't find anything as they show on television in Srinagar. That all happens in remote villages near the border areas.
