Nepal never ceased to wonder in terms of travelling and wilderness. The country is full of giant snow peaks and towering over valleys and rivers engaging people with its striking vistas. The Himalayan land offers plenty of adventurous and thrilling activities to do credit to its appealing natural beauty.

Trekking and hiking:

These are the most popular activities in Nepal, exclusively the Everest base camp, that is hiking till the base of Mount Everest, the highest peak of the world. Mountaineers from all around the world, reach the base camp and from here climb the arduous and life-threatening climb to the top of the world. 

Cultural, nature and spiritual visits:

This cultural hub is a must-visit while on a trip to Nepal and if you are hiking the base camp, you are bound to stop by Kathmandu. From here you need to take a flight to Lukla and move ahead with the remainder of the trek. 

Being the gateway to the country, Kathmandu itself has its share of attractions, though if you want to get a local feel of the city, you will have to dig in deeper. The city is included in the list of one of the most historical cities worldwide. This is due to the fact that it has 7 world heritage sites recognized by UNESCO. Additionally, Kathmandu is a shopper’s paradise, especially textiles. Thamel is a backpacker’s hub lined up with shops and markets selling souvenirs, mountain gears, textiles and many more.

Kathmandu is Nepal’s shopping centre where you can see many tourists crowding over the markets either to buy something for their treks or take back souvenirs with them. Thamel is a backpacker’s hub and you can see various shops and restaurants especially furnished for the travellers. The district started off on a holy note and ended up being as hippy as a street can be. Multiple cheap accommodations and exotic eats and drinks; Thamel makes Kathmandu up-to-date with the cosmopolitan world, while the rest of it still dwells in the history and culture. 

-> World Heritage sites

Kathmandu has seven heritage sites including the Buddhist stupas, temples and durbar squares. Swambhunath and Bauddhanath Buddhist stupa, change Narayan and Pashupati temples and finally the durbar squares are Patan, Bhaktapur and Hanuman Dhoka. Rich in history and stories, the sites provide profound insight in the Nepalese history and traditions.
