10 Nepali words to help during your travel to Nepal

Nepal is the landlocked country in South Asia. It is located mainly in the Himalayas but also includes parts of the Indo-Gangetic plain.  Nepal is a very popular destination among tourists, especially from India.

And is famous for its variety of sightseeing and entertainment options. Nepal has 8 highest mountains out of 10 among the world. The nation’s tourism is not only about adventures, but it also includes many memorable memories you make here and monasteries and there is also the worlds biggest lord Shiva shrine.

When you travel to a new place you must know some local words there to make it more beneficial for you and create a positive environment. Here are 10 local words which will help you while

travelling to Nepal.-

1. Namaste or Namaskar –

This is a very positive word to greet someone in their language. It simply means saying hello, good morning, good evening, bye or good bye. This word can be used in while starting a conversation and at ending of conversation to greet and pass positive vibes on them. 

2. Ho/Hoina –

Ho simply means ‘yes’ and hoina means the opposite ‘no’. Giving answers in their local language will be more excited for them. Yes and no is the most regularly used words. 

3. Dhanyabad –

Dhanyabad means ‘thank you!’ Saying thank you to someone always leaves a positive impact and gives a smile on the face of the person you’re talking to. Saying thank you to someone is leaving positivity and respecting others.

4. Kehi Chhaina –

Kehi Chhaina means ‘You’re welcome’. Saying welcome after a thank you is a good gesture of showing respect and being polite. 

5. Mero naam ho –

Mero naam ho means ‘My name is…’ If someone asks your name or about yourself and starting the conversation with mero naam ho and telling your name in their local language will leave them with a smile for sure. 

6. Ma… aeko hu –

Ma… aeko hu means ‘I am from..’ If some local ask about yourself and after telling your name you tell your hometown and telling them this in their local language will impress them and will create interest of listener to know you more and again will be amazed and happy to hear their local language from the person of a different place.

7. Yo maile bujhna sakina –

Yo maile bujhna sakina means ‘I don’t understand that’. If you are unable to understand any local word or if local is unable to explain their language you can simply tell him/her that you don’t understand by simply saying yo maile bujhna sakina and the person whom with you’re talking to will try to explain in his/her best way.

8. Kripaya ek palta dorryaaunuhos –

Kripaya ek palta dorryaaunuhos means ‘Could you please repeat that?’. If you are unable to understand something said to you and wanted to get it repeated you can simply say Krioaya ek palta dooyaaunuhos. 

9. Kripaya ekai chhinn –

Kripaya ekai chhinn means ‘Just a moment please?’. This is a very polite way to ask some for just a moment without being rude or impolite.

10. Jankari –

Jankari means ‘Information’. If you want to get any information about anything you can simply say jankari and the further information will be provided.
