Life skills learnt from TLOW internship

Internships are more than just a stepping stone into the professional world; they offer a variety of skills and life experiences that can shape your personal development.

My internship at YOLO Manali, an active travel and adventure company, provided me with invaluable opportunities to develop essential life skills beyond the confines of a traditional classroom.

In this blog post, I will share ten life skills that I learned during my internship at YOLO Manali.

Adaptability and flexibility:

Working in the tourism industry means facing unexpected challenges and changes every day.

I have learned to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and to be flexible in my approach to problem-solving.

Efficiently communicate:

Clear communication is vital in the hospitality and tourism sector.

I have honed my verbal and written communication skills interacting with travelers, colleagues, and vendors.

This skill is invaluable in every aspect of life.

Time management:

The dynamic nature of the travel industry has taught me the importance of managing time effectively.

I learned how to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.

Customer service:

Interacting with travelers from a variety of backgrounds has improved my customer service skills.

I learned how to handle requests, solve problems, and ensure a positive customer experience.

Crisis management:

In the world of adventure travel, unexpected situations can arise.

I have developed crisis management skills, staying calm under pressure and making quick, effective decisions to keep our customers safe and satisfied.

Leadership and teamwork:

YOLO Manali encourages collaboration and leadership.

Whether leading a trekking group or working with colleagues, I learned the value of teamwork and how to lead by example.

Cultural Sensitivity:

Tourism brings people from different cultures together.

My internship taught me to be culturally sensitive, respectful, and appreciative of the diversity of our guests.
