Kaziranga National Park: A Wildlife Lover’s Paradise
Located in the Indian state of Assam, Kaziranga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous wildlife sanctuaries in the country. Spread across an area of approximately 430 square kilometres, the park is home to a remarkable diversity of flora and fauna, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers.
Important to note that Kaziranga National park is Open during the dry months from October to April. With December to March being the best months to discover wild life.

Elephant and Jeep Safari
Kaziranga is one of the very few wild life national parks which still have the iconic Elephant safari which starts in the morning at 5 am and 6:30 am. The elephant safari cost more than the jeep Safari but gives you an in-depth experience of going beyond the tracks to get a glimpse of the one horned Rhino up and close.
The jeep safari starts from 7 am with a lunch break around noon and then restarts in the afternoon again. A mix of Jeep & elephant safari is the best way to go about exploring the national park provided you have a minimum of two nights.
Entry Zones or gates to Kaziranga:
There are three entry gates to Kaziranga named as eastern, western and central. With the central being the best to spot animals followed by the western and eastern. It is hard to get into the central zone since it’s reserved for foreigners and VIP crowd.
Wildlife
The star attraction of Kaziranga National Park is the one-horned Indian rhinoceros. With over two-thirds of the world’s population of these majestic creatures, Kaziranga is considered a critical conservation area for this endangered species. Apart from rhinos, the park is also home to other animals like tigers, elephants, wild water buffaloes, deer, and various species of primates.
Birdwatchers will be delighted by the park’s abundant birdlife, with over 480 species recorded. The park is a bird lover’s paradise, with inhabitants including the great Indian hornbill, Bengal Florican, and Oriental pied hornbill.
