24 hours in the awesome Himalayan town of Sarahan

If you’re planning a road trip to Kinnaur and Spiti Valley during the summer months, then Sarahan is one such place which is worth a stop over if you’re looking for a place which is quiet and peaceful. Below is a list you must experience while in this town.

Sarahan, located in the Himalayas, experiences cold temperatures, particularly during the winter months. Pack warm clothing such as sweaters, jackets, thermals, gloves, hats, and socks to stay comfortable.

Home stay

The best way to spend a night in Sarahan is in one of the home stays which are run by the villagers. It’s always better to book in advance since with the spike in people going to Spiti Valley, Sarahan is the new hot spot along the route. The home stays are very simple and modest which come with attached rooms and cosy beds to rest before the long journey to either Chitkul or Nako.

Cook with the locals

If you like cooking then lending a helping hand in the kitchen with your homestay owners is definitely a must do thing to help get the food prepared faster and more importantly to suit your taste buds.

Local Dhaba Chinese

The Chinese in Sarahan is definitely worth trying out. A couple of dhabas which are in the main market area serve some very good noodle soup and momos. The perfect lunch to have when you arrive in Sarahan.
