9 Healthy travel habits to follow

While we all go for holidays & travel, the most common thing is that we put on a few kilos and actually end up living an unhealthy life. That ends up backfiring on our health. The only way around this is to strike a balance while on the road.  Here are some pointers to adhere to:

Exercise while your Travel

Tanga village Manipur

No matter if you’re on holiday in a resort or hiking up in the Himalayas, exercise is an important part of your daily routine. It is needed to keep your body on track, while in a foreign environment and at the same time, it’s a great way to get the blood pressure running.

Two hours of no phone

An important part of staying healthy is to avoid using the phone for at least two hours a day while on your holiday. It’s advisable to keep it away to a minimum of one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening to start with.

Regular meals

Travel

While travelling we tend to get so engrossed in living in the moment that at times we forget to have our meals on time. This is an area that most need to be kept in mind and remembered. Blunders like these can lead to acidity.

Avoid wastage

When you’re on holiday, the general trend for most is to switch their brains off and travel. It’s during this mini-break that most people tend to waste maximum money on food and drink by experimenting and then realising that the food is not as per choice and then going on to regrets their decision. Stick to having local food and this will help avoid a lot of wastage.

Daily fruits

Rather than stalking your bag with biscuits and chips, consider switching to a healthier option of fruits. No matter where you are travelling, you’ll always find a person selling fruits and this is a healthier snack option than travelling with chips. Carrying dry fruits is another good option to munch on while travelling.

Meditation

The single most important part of feeling good is to first be in sync with your mind and body. So how is that achieved? The age-old Indian philosophy of just sitting at peace with yourself and listening to the sound of nature is the best way to get your mind and body in sync. This also at the same time will help you feel refreshed.

Drink water

Stream water along the hike to Malana

Always leave home with a 1L water bottle that can be refilled along the way. This is the best way to keep your body hydrated at all times.  Lack of drinking adequate water daily while on holiday is the single reason why most people feel jaded after going even for an overnight picnic.

Sleep well

Sleep is something considered as a taboo while on holiday and many consider this as a waste of time. This is because back at home in their regular routine people have all the time in the world to sleep. But lack of proper sleep i.e. a proper eight hours of sleep will hinder your travel. You’ll start feeling fatigued and at the same time irritation will set in.  Hence to avoid getting irritated, get some good sleep.

Walk to places

While you’re on holiday, most think walking is a poor man’s way of being on holiday. But if you haven’t walked and explored the place on foot, then honestly you haven’t really travelled.  The only way to get a first-hand experience of the place is to set out on foot and discover the place like a local.
