10 spectacular animals you will definitely spot in Assam’s Kaziranga national park 

Kaziranga national park in Assam is one of the most sought after national parks in India. The primary reason is the one horn rhino which has been a star attraction, since this is the only place in the whole world where they are found. But along with the rhino, there are other animals also which can be found in the national park. Listed below are animals which you will more or less end up surely seeing while on a safari to Kaziranga 

One horn Rhino 

A default reason to visit Kaziranga national park is to get a glimpse of the mighty one horned rhino. You won’t be disappointed. It’s an assured sighting in Kaziranga, that if you go for the morning or the evening safari, you will end up spotting the one horn Rhino in the wild. These animals are endangered.

Hog Deer 

Another assured animal you will spot is the hog deer which usually will always be spotted on the road or in a group. These animals are easy to spot and can be found all over the forest. 

Indian elephant 

Kaziranga is one of the last few national parks in India where you can still take a safari on the back of an elephant. It’s been a controversy with animal rights activists but that hasn’t stopped tourists flocking to Kaziranga for this unique way of exploring the jungle. You will also spot various wild elephants wandering around the Kaziranga jungle.

Great white pelican 

A migratory bird from Europe that comes to Kaziranga during the winter months from November to February to escape the hard weather in Eastern Europe. 

Wild buffalo

These giants can be spotted in every water body that is there in the national park. They are always spotted in the water body since they use the water body to cool off from the hot sun. 

Indian wild boar

Common all over Kaziranga is the wild indian boar which moves around in a herd crossing through the jungle. These animals are usually spotted during the afternoons and late early evenings. 

Indian grey mongoose

The Indian grey mongoose can be spotted even on the road outside the national park in the buffer area of the park. But when you enter the national park it’s not very common to see them, since they go unnoticed with everyone more keen on seeing other wild animals that they have travelled so far to see. 

Barking deer 

Another deer form which is very common all over the national park. These barking deers can always be spotted at a distance from the main safari track. The barking deer will always wander together in a herd. It’s very unlikely that you will spot them without a heard. 

Bengal Fox 

The Bengal fox will always roam along and is mostly seen around the water bodies in the late evenings mostly around twilight. Bengal fox is usually spotted by your ranger who will help you see them through their binoculars. 

Royal Bengal tiger 

Kaziranaga national has the highest density of tigers in all of India. But that does not mean you will see a tiger for sure. The long grass in Kaziranga makes a perfect hiding place for the tigers. The sound of the safaris makes them run away. It’s only on an elephant safari that the probability of spotting a tiger increases.
