1. SRINAGAR Houseboat

If you are visiting Srinagar and staying in a five-star hotel or resort, then you should not visit Srinagar. Visiting Srinagar and not staying in a houseboat is one of the foolish things that you can do. A one night stay in a houseboat on Dal Lake is a must. From inside they are more luxurious than the other hotels in Srinagar.

2.Shikara ride

Taking a ride in a Shikara on Dal Lake with a breathtaking view of the Pir Panjal mountains on one side, the beautiful lake city on the other is a once in a lifetime experience. The rides are on an hourly basis, you can take a ride from an hour to three hours.

3. Early morning Dal market

Dal Lake is famous for its beauty, houseboats and Shikara ride. But early morning when most of us are sleeping in our hotel or houseboat room, we miss the early morning vegetable market on Dal Lake which is a must-see. All the Shikara owner gather and sell all types of vegetables to houseboat owner and people who stay on them at Dal Lake.

4. Walkthrough Dal Lake

There is a lane which runs through the Dal Lake, if you want to spend some time by the lake, you can take a walk through the lake. You will find many vendors selling various things.

5. One of the best sunsets

We have seen the sunset at the beach and in the mountains but experiencing sunset at a lake is a whole new experience not many of us have seen. At Dal Lake, the lake and the sky look so beautiful. The orange sky and the green lake are the perfect matches at the time of sunset.

6. Mughal gardens

There are several Mughal gardens in Srinagar near Dal Lake famous for the location and tulip festival. Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh is the most beautiful gardens in India constructed by the Mughals. These are the must-visit gardens when you're in Srinagar.

7. Hazratbal

Hazratbal is a Muslim shine in Srinagar on the banks of Dal Lake. It is the holiest shrine in Kashmir and most beautiful place to visit. Peace is really worth it. It is full of white marble which looks amazing and Dal Lake adds more beauty to this shrine.

8. Interact with locals

Interacting with locals is the main part of travel or backpacking. To know their story about the war is important. Every story has many sides, we all only see what is shown by mainstream media. Talking to locals makes the place come alive. It also helps us to know the place well so it makes it easier to travel in this type of a tense place.

9. Stay a couple of days

This place doesn't need any reason or explanation. Srinagar has many things to offer everyone. Never believe mainstream media that the situation is different there. You won't find anything as they show on television in Srinagar. That all happens in remote villages near the border areas.
