Komik in Spiti Valley is the highest village in the world. It is situated an at altitude of around 15,500 feet above sea-level. The village has a lot more to offer other than a picture with the village sign board.

1. Komik Monastery stay
The Komik monastery offers travellers, a once in a life time opportunity to stay with the monks. If you are planning on staying a night in the world’s highest village, the monastery stay is highly recommended.
2. Eco Kitchen
Run by the locals, the eco kitchen is the only café in the entire village. It is an excellent place to have a coffee or something to munch on.
3. Meet Locals
The villagers from Komik are very friendly and love talking. A bit of chit chat and they will surely invite you into their home for a cup of chai and biscuits.
4. Volleyball
Just outside the monastery complex is a volleyball court. The lamas are usually always playing and are more than happy to include you in their game. This is also the best way to beat the cold and get the blood pumping.
5. Sign board
An absolute must is to click a picture of the sign board which reads out the highest village in the world. You can’t get a better place to take a selfie.
6. Monastery
Easily the most colourful monastery in the entire region with white, blue and red striped paint, the Komik monastery, just like the rest of the Buddhist temples in Spiti Valley will surely help you connect with yourself and find peace.
7. Run with the yaks
Now this is something which you need to be extremely fortunate to witness. The village yaks ranging from white, brown and black from huge ones to the young ones, you will literally see more yaks and less humans in the village.
8. Camping
During season campsites are set up in Komik. Camping is something worth a try. But it is only for the ones who are really well acclimatised and can deal with the extreme temperature dip in the night.
9. Hike
The villages of Hikkim (highest post office) and Langza (fossil village) are just a short 3-5 km hike from each other and are perfect places to hike to since it’s a downhill descent.
10. Stargaze
At 15,500 feet above sea-level, the sky has over a million stars every night and when it’s a clear night you’ll easily see at least a 100 shooting stars and the Milky Way.
