Pools and kids are like a combination that goes together. Parents of kids – young and older like taking their children for a chill time to pools. The perfect combination is a resort combining a holiday with some pool time. Children should always have the correct swim clothes and gear when they are in the pool. Avoid cotton clothes and go for lyra and spandex clothes which make it easier for them to correctly use the area. Ensure that they have floats and are always in a safe zone with adult supervision. For small babies who are not potty trained, avoid entering with a diaper, special swim diapers or cloth diapers can be used for a swim.

2. Supervise and be alert

Children in the water is always a time to be more cautious as adults. Many pools in resorts do not have lifeguards so as the adults there, be vigilant. Mishaps are common because of lack of awareness. Do not leave the children unattended at any time even if there is a kids pool.

3. After swim bite

Swimming is a strenuous activity and always tends to make one hungry. Ensure that you hydrate well before going to the pool and nourish yourself and your children after the swim. Do not forget this treat after a swim as it is important for kids to eat well after burning so many calories.

4. Don’t force

Many times children are afraid of the water and do not want to enter the water, please don’t compel them and accept their no. Yes, a pool is fun but the child may not be ready or open to it. Let them warm up at their own pace, anything done forcibly especially swimming does not make it enjoyable but more like a punishment. To enjoy your time at a resort with you children, ensure that they want to swim and it comes from them and is not something you force on them.

5. Swim along

A good way to encourage them is by setting an example and swimming along with them. That keeps them safe and at the same time makes them feel protected. Children and parents doing activities together is fun and is also a good bonding helping to build bonds.

6. Safe standards

Ensure that you have safe standards, especially the rules of the pool. Being safe in the water is important and keeping the rules is very important. Do not try to take unwanted risks and encourage your children also not to do things that will put them at risk.

7. Clean and dry

After the water time, take a bath immediately and ensure your children do the same so that the chlorine is off their bodies and they are dry to avoid falling ill. Especially dry their hair to avoid a head cold.

8. Rash

Be sure to check that the water is cleaned daily and is used well so that rashes are avoided. Children have sensitive skin and are more prone to get rashes from unclean or highly chlorinated water. As the adult taking them to a resort with a pool, please check before hand on the cleanliness and water suitability for your children.

9. Avoid crowded Pools

If the water is too crowded then avoid entering with children at that time. It will be difficult to keep an eye and keep your children safe in a crowded pool. Choose odd timings when the pool has lesser people so you can enjoy better and be safe too as supervision will be easier.

10. Be alert where the steps are

Awareness of the pool steps, exit and entry points is important. This will help you in case any untoward incident happens. Instead of being in panic mode where the brain shuts down, prior awareness of all this helps greatly at such times to get timely help. It may also save lives and at the same time be crucial to staying safe and far from harm.

11. Know CPR

Pool accidents can happen at any time and being able to provide first aid is vital. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an important technique to know and it will help keep you, your children and others safe. If you as a parent know how to administer CPR it will be very helpful and there will be no time lost in seeking help and lives will be saved.

12. Be calm

While at the pool always be peaceful and remember that you are coming to enjoy, do not get angry and yell. This will only spoil the mood. If there is any situation, be relaxed and have fun. Pool time is a stress-free experience and you need to be fully present with your children. Keep cell phones and all other gadgets away. This will ensure that they don’t get wet and don’t get spoiled.

Time at a resort pool is fun but being safe rather than sorry is always better. If the above points are followed, it will surely be a great experience.
