A walk in2 super prehistoric times: Dinosaur Park, Lonavala, Maharashtra

Around 9 kms from the twin hill stations of Lonavala-Khandala is located in Aundholi is the Dinosaur Park. The entrance fee of Rs 250 per person for an adult which is also available in combos for some other activities is totally worth it. For children, the dinosaur park is a fun place as they will enjoy seeing the various dinosaurs that make Jurassic Park come alive. There are sound and movement installations of dinosaurs across the park but with time some of them are far from being in the best condition.

Lonavala walk

The park is quite extensive, so be ready to walk a lot. For those who have difficulty walking there is a buggy service available for Rs 100 per person. The park has an entrance that will remind one of Jurassic Park. There is a duck pond amidst the dinosaur installation which is quite refreshing.

The dinosaurs are up to scale and some painting work as well as restoration was on in May 2023. There was also work on for a stay in the space with rooms being built. The park houses a horror house, a mirror maze and a few other activities. There are also amazing activities for kids like excavation of dinosaur fossils. This is an awesome way to engage kids which allows them in a sand pit to find fossils with archeology and palaeontology tools. A child gets to seek the hidden fragments of the dinosaurs. 

Activities

The drawing and colouring activity with pencils, stencils and colours allows children to draw and colour their favourite dinosaur. The park takes a good three to four hours to cover and do the activities.

The car parking is limited but people tend to come and go quickly. The park is located in a rural stretch so food is tough to find around. The park has some food joints but they were closed and whatever snacks and drinks are available are quite steep in price. The washrooms are decently clean. 

Food

Make sure to carry water as you will need it if you are exploring the park on foot. There is a small park in the middle of the with slides and swings but they are not in the best of condition. The dinosaur bus is also in bad shape but one can click pictures on it. The dinosaur eggs, dustbins and benches across the park adds a nice touch.

The dinosaur park is a must-visit when in Lonavala or Khandala, it is a bit out of the way but can be clubbed with a visit to Pawna Lake or Lohagad fort.
