Immigration gate at Burma

One day in Tamu Myanmar

Two Gates to enter Myanmar :

There are two gates which take you to the Myanmar (Burma) border. Gate no. 1 will take you to the exploring part of Myanmar and Gate no. 2 will take you to the market of Myanmar which is connected to the Indian boundary.

Immigration:

A lot of rickshaws operate and a drop at Gate no. 1 of Moreh will cost around ₹ 40. It's a gate where you need to provide your ID proof and to register yourself. The person from the immigration takes the ID card. After that, he gives one slip or receipt which is our one day pass for the exploration of Tamu village. At the same counter, we get an auto-rickshaw which takes us for the local sightseeing around Tamu. It costs around ₹350.

First and foremost, he took us to the market area near Gate number 2 where we explore the Myanmar market and experience their way of selling things. The market is really old and gives you the rustic look of the traditional and local way of trading. Later, the auto-rickshaw person takes us to three pagodas which are known as a monastery in our common language.

On the way to the first pagoda, the auto driver stopped at the checkpoint where he asked for the immigration receipt and registered us as a tourist for one-day sightseeing. Once we clear this, we are clear to roam around Tamu.

The first pagoda has a majestic white stupa and a Buddha statue near the gate of the pagoda. We went there and explore the area on foot. The auto driver was waiting for us in the parking stand.  We experienced the Burmese Buddhism structure and saw the art in the nearby temple which was under construction.

The second pagoda lies on the northern side of Tamu. On the way to the second pagoda, we roamed between the lanes of Tamu village seeing the local life of the Burmese. Also, we cross the lane of houses made of wood. The second pagoda is a Burmese structured monastery along with the community hall of the villagers. Inside the pagoda there is peace. The area around has a giant golden stupa with Buddhist flags around it. There was a water pool as well where we sat peacefully and enjoyed nature at its best.

All three pagodas are situated in different areas of Tamu so we get a chance to take a walk into the village. While in the second pagoda, we tried the local litchi drink what the local offers in a can. It was a pulpy juicy and delicious which was a relief from the heat in the afternoon.

Burmese tea leaf salad was the highlight of the Burmese meal that was coupled with a home-cooked meal. The last pagoda lies in the eastern part of Tamu. At the entrance of the pagoda, we saw two giant dragons which signified the welcome posture over the entrance. With these dragon structures, we saw a stairway covered with a wooden roof heading to the upper side of the little hill. We headed to the pagoda and gazed at the entire view of Tamu village.

We saw the giant dragon and Buddha statue on our left side facing the village. Behind that, we encountered the biggest stupa as compared to the first and second pagoda. Inside this giant stupa, we saw a statue of Buddha where we prayed and sat peacefully to enjoy the view of Tamu village. We explored the nearby area to see the life in Tamu village. We were running short of time, therefore we headed back to the immigration point. While coming, we encountered the natural beauty of the river and the jungle in Myanmar.

It is an amazing day crossing the border for a day and experiencing the culture. The village was full of love and natural beauty, even the people are gems.
