World’s Highest River Rafting point: Zanskar river rafting, Ladakh

The Zanskar valley in Ladakh is one of the most beautiful valleys in the region with the ever-changing landscape and close encounters with nature’s beauty such as snow peaks, glaciers, long unwinding cold desert, gorges, etc. Zanskar river is known for its white water river rafting.

The Zanskar river rafting is considered as the World’s Highest River Rafting point. At over 12000 feet altitude, river rafting enthusiasts get the challenge of water turbulent flow and challenging rapids which can literally flip the boat. Zanskar river rafting is one of the attractions of the Leh region.

Zanskar river rafting

comes in three distances depending upon the level of Professionalism in River Rafting. One comes in 6 km, second, comes in 14 km and third, comes in 28 km. First one is for those who just want to chill in the river, not to paddle too much. The second one is the one what usually most people do.

Because in this one, they get the proper level of currents, rapids and a good amount of challenge to tackle rocks and gorges. The third one is the one for those who are professionally trained for river rafting because it needs a good amount of stamina for rafting around 28 km and the level of difficulty is pro-level because from the starting point it has more deadly rapids and curves where it can flip the boat at any time.

There is a half an hour tutorial of dos and don’ts. Then the rafting ranges from an hour to 2.5 hours to 5 hours depending on the level. At 12000 feet, the rafting point practice of paddling for 20 minutes is given then the team leave for the main part.

River rafting

The temperature of the water is around 4 or 5 degrees and lower as it comes from the melting Himalayas. It is more like jumping and the rapids literally throw the raft here and there so one has to hold the rope very tightly because if you don’t, then be ready to taste the water. Many times the raft flows smoothly and many times one has to direct it. The stamina it takes to move the raft is a lot when you sit on the front side of the raft.

After rapids, there comes a part where the raft goes on and all you can hear is the sound of water and little birds chirping. There you will feel like this is the best experience of your life because whatever happens, happens for a reason.

Experiences come and go in life but it’s more useful when you make them memorable. At the ending point, they allow you to jump into the water and experience the best feeling ever.  The rapids in the water denote our problems, the raft is our life and we are the person who’s handling the raft. At first, rapids will appear dangerous but once you face them and leave them behind, it will all be worth it.

Later enjoy the calm and peaceful water in the river. Try every experience in your life you never know which experience can turn your life in a different way because cover the earth before it covers you.
