12 Brilliant evening travel habits

While backpacking we always are so caught up with all that’s happening around us, that we forget to do the very basic things and end up playing catch on the rest of our holiday. Here’s a list of some must-dos:

Evaluate your day when you travel

Once you’re done with all the wandering, cafe hopping and get back to your room, the first thing to do is just sit back and evaluate the last few hours. Considering the usual city grind, this has been very different, so spend some time pondering over the day.

Write down things

After you have evaluated the day, pen down the highlights of the day. This is a great way to remember moments or even the name of a restaurant that you dined at. If your not too much of a writer, then even following the age-old bullet pointer system is a great way to get it done.

Plan for the next day

It’s always good to do your own research while travelling. With the boom in 4G network around the country, the part of the planning and researching about places and what to do while at those places has become a lot easier. Around 15-20 minutes of research and you’ll be pretty much able to burst upon what your final plan for the next day should be like.

From your power bank and phone to maybe your camera batteries everything needs to be well backed up and charged for the next day. So no matter how tired you are at the end of the day, this is the single most important thing to do every night before you crash while on the road.

Yes, this is an important point.  You might think it’s default but after 6-7 days of travelling, your body starts to fall apart and that’s when having a bath is no longer a priority. To avoid reaching such a stage, it’s better to keep a proper day to day take of your personal hygiene.

But the above is very important to help prevent the leg muscles from becoming sore with all the walking. If you’re the kind who likes looking good each and every day of your holiday, then this is a default addition to your holiday time table.  It’s always better to plan a day in advance so you can save up time in the morning and start fresh and go explore the place around.

We all are so fed up of being connected to everyone through the smartphones that we are looking to get away and disconnect from everything. While it’s a very good thing to do that, a few people especially your parents will always want to be in the loop of how your day was and if you have had your meals for the day. It’s just something worth doing one every 2-3 days while you’re on the road so even they know that your having fun and are also safe at the same time.

Always carry a book while travelling. Make it a mandate thing to carry a book which will help you develop some aspect in life. Just before going to bed spend around 15-20 minutes reading and gaining some knowledge.

Set an alarm

  • An important thing while travelling is to always wake up before the scheduled time so you don’t have to rush in the morning. Always keep multiple alarms so even if you miss the first one you’re sure to wake up by the time the third one rings.

After all the walking and travelling it’s important to get some proper sleep. Six hours of sleep is more than enough to recharge your body and get you going for the day. Sleeping in time is a key ingredient to having a flawless holiday.
