Our only road trip to Spiti valley which does not include the might chandartal lake, The only reason for excluding the moon lake is the fact that in the month of May the road to Chandartal is never open,
The bus from Delhi to Rampur is the best in its class by HRTC on that particular route. The Kinnaur bit of the road trip is as interesting as Spiti with Sarahan, Chitkul & Nako all a different mix of what we usually don’t expect from Himalayan villages. Chitkul is also famous as the last village before the India-China border.
Our trip has been planned in such a way that as each day passes the trip will keep getting better along the journey & by the end of it all you have actually travelled & lived in some of the highest villages inhabited in the world.
– Arrive at New Delhi by 16:00 HRS
– Reach ISBT Kashmiri Gate by 18:00 HRS.
– Board a Volvo semi-sleeper bus to Rampur at 19:00 HRS.
– Reach Rampur by 09:00 HRS & meet the lead driver
– Hop onto our tempo traveller to the temple town of Sarahan. (35 km = 1-2 hours)
– Breakfast is Enroute to Sarahan.
– Reach Sarahan by 11:00 HRS & check into our guest house for the night.
– Freshen up & relax it’s a day to acclimatise
– Explore the town on foot
– Post breakfast, leave for the border village of Chitkul. (105 km = 5-6 Hr)
– Reach Chitkul around tea time and check into a homestay (Only Jio/BSNL Network)
– Visit the village temple and spend the rest of the day interacting with the friendly locals.
– Spend rest of the day wandering through the village lanes and chill by the River Baspa.
– Early morning start for the town of Kaza. (257 km = 7-8 hrs)
– Lunch in the village of Nako
– Enroute vist the Mummy village of Gue.
– Reach the town of Kaza by afternoon,
– Check into our home stay for the night.
– Freshen up and explore the town on foot.
– Post breakfast say goodbye to your family and drive to Key Monastery and Chicham Kibber Bridge.
– Reach Komic the world’s highest village with a road in 60 minutes.
– Wander around the monastery & drive to the village of Hikkim.
– Hikkim houses the highest post office in the world at 14,440 ft.
– Post your postcards & drive to Langza
– Explore Langza; the fossil village and drive to the cliff village of Dhankar 32km drive.
– Reach Dhankar and check into our homestay
– Freshen up and rest of the evening at leisure.
– Post breakfast, visit the cliff monastery and Dhankar village.
– Drive to Tabo ( 30km =1-2 hrs)
– Check in to our homestay in Tabo
– Hike to the meditation caves, wander through the arid village of Tabo.
– Rest of the evening at leisure.
– After breakfast Drive to the town of Kalpa. (160 km = 3-4 Hrs)
– Reach Kalpa around noon and check into a guest house.
– Explore the town of Kalpa on foot.
– Return back to home stay by 18:00 HRS.
– After Breakfast check out and drive to Shimla. ( 223 km = 7-8 hrs)
– Reach Shimla by lunch time.
– Drop at Shimla private Bus stand
– Board a Volvo AC semi-sleeper bus to New Delhi at 18:30 HRS.
– Arrive at ISBT New Delhi by 8-9am
– Book any onward flight or train post 12:00 pm.
