Six days of mesmerising natural beauty, things which will leave you spellbound. Whatever pictures & videos you have seen of the place, nothing matches us to the real feel. The hike to the double-decker root bridge, along with camping at Dawki & the vibe in Shillong, makes this for an entertaining trip when you add a bunch of random people, mostly who enroll solo from different parts of the country.

The age category is usually between 25 to 55 years, with 75% of the people following in the age bracket of 26-35. It’s a trip that takes you deep into one of the lesser-known parts of India.

The Meghalaya Offbeat Backpacking Trip is an end-to-end road trip which starts at Paltan Bazaar, Guwahati & ends at the same place. From Shillong, we will travel around in a private vehicle.

Blueprint

Day 1Paltan Bazaar Guwahati -> Shillong

– Arrive in Guwahati by latest 12:00 HRS

– Reach Guwahati at Paltan Bazaar by 13:00 HRS.

– Post breakfast, hop onto a private taxi to Shillong. (99km = 2.5 hours)

– Reach Shillong by 15:00 HRS and check into a guest house.

– Post lunch, leave for local sightseeing and visit Wards Lake.

– Visit Bara Bazaar, the local Kashi market.

Day 2Cherrapunji (Sohra)

-> After breakfast, leave for Cherrapunji. (54 km= 2hrs)

-> First stop at Laitlum Canyon, then ‪to the Garden of Caves (11 spots/ 400 steps), Nohkalikai Falls Viewpoint, and Arwah Caves.

-> Lunch along the journey.

-> Reach the Homestay in Cherrapunji and freshen up

-> Rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 3Double Decker Root Bridge

– Post Breakfast by 08:00 HRS leave for the village of Tyrna.

– Reach the village and hike down the 3000 steps to the base village of Nongriat

– Explore the double-decker root bridge.

– Return back to the parking lot before sundown.

– Visit Mawsmai Caves.

– Drive back to our homestay for the night.

– Spend the evening at leisure.

Day 4Riwai | Mawlynnong |Dawki | Jowai

-> After breakfast, leave for Jowai, West Jaintia Hills. (102 km=3-4 hrs)

-> Drive to Riwai, the single-decker root bridge. (75 steps) {51 km = 2-3 mins}

-> Lunch at Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village.

-> Stop at Dawki (boating additional cost)

-> Drive to Jowai for the night stay.

-> Reach Jowai at 8 pm and check into a homestay for the night.

Day 5Jowai -> Shillong

-> After breakfast, pack up and leave for Shillong (66km = 2-3 hrs)

-> En route, visit Krang Suri Waterfall and Phe Phe Falls ( Boating and 500 steps), Mawphlang sacred forest

-> Reach Shillong by 6:00 PM

-> Check into our homestay

-> Rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 6Shillong -> Paltan Bazaar, Guwahati

– Post breakfast, leave in the morning by 08:00 HRS

– En route stop at Umiam lake

– Reach Paltan Bazaar, Guwahati by 11:00 HRS.

– Book any return flight or train post 2:00 PM

What if there is a natural calamity or delay due to an external factor?
-Any cost arising due to natural calamities like, landslides, road blockage, political disturbances(strikes), or any delay arising due to an external factor etc. (to be borne by the client, which is directly payable on the spot).

What is cancellation policy?

TLOW, based on the Cancellation Date, shall withhold the following amounts stated in the table below from the Booking Amount or Trip Price as cancellation charges and refund the remainder to you. The refund shall be paid to you within 21 calendar days from the Cancellation Date.

Cancellation Date is: Cancellation charges
– Before forty (40) calendar days prior to the date of commencement of the Trip, 15% of the Trip Price

– On or after forty (40) calendar days but prior to thirty (30) calendar days from the day of commencement of the Trip, 30% of the Trip Price

– On or after thirty (30) calendar days but prior to twenty-five (25) calendar days from the day of commencement of the Trip, 50% of the Trip Price

– On or after twenty-five (25) calendar days but prior to twenty (20) calendar days from the day of commencement of the Trip, 75% of the Trip Price

– On or after twenty (20) calendar days but prior to fifteen (15) calendar days from the day of commencement of the Trip, 100% of the Trip Price

You may claim a refund only in case of a confirmed booking where you have paid the entire Booking Amount. Where there is part payment of the Booking Amount is made, the same shall be forfeited and there shall be no refund.
