This is Tlow’s six-day backpacking in Sri Lanka trip around the island nation of Sri Lanka. The trip starts off in the beach town of Negombo and moves to the Southern Districts of Galle & Matara with night stays in the lesser-known beach towns of Hikkaduwa and Mirissa. If you are someone who’s looking for a budget international trip, either solo or with your spouse, this is the trip for you.

Our Backpacking in Sri Lanka Trip is a self-exploration backpacking trip which starts & ends at Colombo airport. The driver will double up as the trip lead for the entire journey from start to finish.
So on our Sri Lanka trips, expect mostly backpackers above the age bracket of 25+. With 95% being female solo travellers between the ages of 25-35. The highlight of our Sri Lanka trip is our home stay accommodation at each and every beach village that we will spend a night at.

– Arrive at Bandaranaike Airport by 12:00 HRS (noon)
– Hop onto the Vehicle
– Check into the homestay at Negombo (11 km = 30 mins)
– Freshen up and leave for Negombo sightseeing.
– Visit St. Sebastian’s church, The Dutch fort, Angurukaramulla Temple and the dry fish market.
– Watch the sunset at the beach.
– Return back post sundown.
– Rest of the evening at leisure
– Post breakfast by 10:00 HRS, leave for the town of Kandy. (240 km = 3 hrs 5 mins)
– Reach Kandy by 12:00 HRS and check into our homestay for the night.
– Explore the town in a vehicle
– Rest of the evening at leisure.
– Post breakfast by 9:00 HRS, leave for the hippie town of Mirissa. (240 km = 5-6HRS)
– Enjoy the scenic drive
– Reach Mirissa by 12:00 HRS and check into our homestay.
– Catch the waves and watch the sky change colours for sunset.
– Visit Parrot Rock on Mirissa Beach.
– Post sundown, attend a beach party or have dinner by the beach.
– Spend the rest of the evening at leisure.
– Go for a swim in the ocean or read a book and watch the sunset.
– Post Breakfast around 11:00 HRS to the beach town of Boossa in Galle district. (42km = 1 hour)
– Reach Galle by lunchtime and explore the fort & lighthouse.
– Arrive at our beach view cabana stay at Boossa by 15:00 HRS. (12km = 30 minutes)
– Spend the rest of the evening at leisure.
– Go for a swim in the ocean or read a book and watch the sunset.
– Post breakfast by 11:00 HRS, leave by car to the beach town of Hikkaduwa. (20 km= 45 mins)
– Check into our beach view homestay.
– Chill at Hikkaduwa Beach. (Famous for snorkeling)
– Return back to the homestay post sundown.
– Spend the rest of the evening exploring the town area cafes & flea market
– Enjoy your morning at leisure on the beach, soaking up the sun or engaging in water activities.
– In the afternoon, make your way back to Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka.
– If time permits, you may take a city tour of Colombo, visiting attractions such as the Gangaramaya Temple, and the bustling Pettah Market.
– Transfer to Colombo International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your Sri Lanka trip.
