Timeless in Thamel, Nepal

Thamel in Nepal is a bucket-list package when it comes to adventure and travelling. The Himalayas are one of the most fascinating features in the world attracting travellers for all kinds of purposes ranging from spiritual to simply business. The landlocked country is jam-packed between India and China and many tourists world-wide land in the country to answer to their ‘Calling’. 

The Himalayas are home to all the 14-8000 m peaks in the world, that have been enveloped in many kinds of adventure packages and trails. It is a human being’s need to seek out and conquer the harshness of nature and the Himalayas are one of the most fierce and volatile natural wonders of the world. Various shops selling and renting mountaineering tools and equipment are lined up in the city in addition to the excellent collection of woollen wear one can find there. The city is also famous for the various religious sites worth visiting from Hanuman Dhoka to Jan bahal. However, the highlight of the city is its backpacker area Thamel.

Thamel is an area crowded with backpackers and trekkers who line up in various shops selling souvenirs, mountain gears, woollens, handicrafts, Kashmiri carpets and various other stuff. If you aren’t shopping, you are loading yourself with palatable momos and different other dishes that are presented by some of the cities most amazing restaurants. The area hosts a jam of ruck-sack loaded individuals who just don’t know how to not miss any spot around since there is so much to look for.

Funnily enough, the area began with a site for teachings of Buddhism and turned out to be everything unholy and hippy. The market that sees the dawn with hustling vagabonds wandering here and there in search of different items to buy turns into a party animal buy night. Women and men in hoards rush into the various bars and pubs and thugs and rebels circle around here and there is a drunken state. 

It is quite something to wander around the streets of Thamel. It makes sense to find accommodation within the district itself. As you disembark from the comforts of your hotel, you won’t be able to hold yourself back from exploring around. It is ideal to start and finish off your trip to Nepal with Thamel. It is both a pre-preparation and a fulfilling end toast to an adventurous escapade amidst the mountains and valleys. 

Kathmandu Nepal

Thamel is Nepal’s very own little cosmopolitan centre wrapped by the rugged elevations around. Maybe that’s why it attracts people from all around the world. When you are here next time, make sure to dig a little deep in the local history of Thamel and Kathmandu, you would be surprised to see the metamorphosis of the district and city. That being said, Thamel is a must-visit when travelling in Kathmandu and even Nepal.
