Things to do in Spiti Valley
There are many things you can do while you’re in Spiti Valley. It is a huge valley which consists of many small villages, Buddhist monasteries, high altitude lakes, and no network all through the region.

The Mummy village
Gue is a village situated at an altitude of 10,500ft in Spiti before Kaza. It is famous for its lama Mummy. The Mummy of shanga Tenzin was found in 1975 during an army excavation. It is believed to be around 500 to 600 years old.

Send a postcard
In the age of the internet, not many even use postal service. We all use the internet to send messages and emails through different electronic mediums.
But here in Spiti, there is the world’s highest post office in the village of Hikkim situated at 14000ft above sea-level. Sending postcards to your friends and loved ones is something of a must-do thing from the highest post office.

Fossil hunting
There is a village called Langza situated at 14,550ft above sea-level is known for its fossils. It is said that the whole area was under the Indian Ocean 500 million years ago. Now you can find various marine animal fossils or you can directly buy from the children in the village.

Chill by the Spiti river
Throughout your Spiti trip, you will see the Spiti river running along with you. Whenever you get time or ask to stop and chill by the river, drink some pure glacier water directly coming down from the mountains.

Dhankar Lake
If you are visiting Dhankar and not going to Dhankar Lake, then it is a waste of time. Check your stamina and hike to the lake. After reaching the lake, you’ll realise why the hike is worth it.

Camping at Chandartal
A Spiti trip is incomplete without Chandartal. The place is one where you can find yourself close to nature. Camping at this place has its own charm.

Picture with a Lama in Spiti Valley
Taking selfies with friends is outdated but clicking pictures and selfie with Lamas specially small Lamas is different things. Not everyone gets the chance to click photos with them.
Monastery stay in Dhankar
Spiti is all about the monasteries and mountains. A stay at one of the monasteries is a different experience. Eating, drinking with Lamas, listening to their stories about mountains and Buddhism is a must-do thing.
