The bowling game FAQs

Q- From where did the game originate?

A- Bowling is a game played at Yolo Camping. Yolo camping is situated at Jari, Himachal Pradesh. The game was invented at the campsite and added to the urban clan’s event. The game was made by using the waste, like empty glass bottles.

Q- How different is it from the original bowling game?

Bhandardara bowling at tyrb

A- The game is played at the Yolo Camping as a part of the urban clans event. The original bowling requires a very special and heavy ball, and the target is also made special. Whereas the (Himalayan) bowling only requires empty beer bottles as the target. The ball is made by wrapping socks with paper, and then taping it with duct tape. Also the points and the playing techniques are also different. In Himalayan bowling, you have the option to either throw or kick the ball.

Q- How to play the game?

A- To play the game, two teams are created, where in each team, there are a minimum of two and a maximum of five players per team.

Q- What are the equipment required for the game?

A- The equipment is already available at the campsite.

Q- What are the rules?

A- The rules are very simple and straightforward. The distance between the target and the player is about 15 feet. While kicking the ball, there is a red spot painted on the floor, from where the player has to kick the ball. If the player chooses to throw the ball by hand, there is a red line painted on the floor, from there the player has to throw the ball at the target. While throwing or kicking, one’s feet should never cross the line. If the ball is thrown or kicked and if touches the sides, it’s a foul, and no points are given. If the ball goes directly at the target, that is also a foul.

Q- What are the winning conditions?

A- The game is played in two innings if there are six or less number of players. If there are more than seven players, the game is played in a single inning. To win, a team has to score the most points at the end of the innings.

Q- What is the point system?

A- Every player gets three chances to kick/throw the ball at the target. If a person chooses to throw the ball, the player has to go back to the red-painted line. If the player topples one bottle, the player gets one point, and if the player topples all ten bottles, he gets 10 points. If the player chooses to kick the ball instead, he gets five points per bottle toppled.
