To have a creative vacation, you don’t need to really be a creative person, all you need to do is put in an extra effort to go beyond the usual part of just booking a package and going with what’s pre-decided by the tour operator. For a change take a bit more effort and make things unique

Try the local cuisine
Without a doubt the cuisine of a place will by default make up a large part of how your vacation turns out. Whenever you’re traveling to a new city or destination, make sure to try the local food. Most often the best food to try won’t really cost you a lot of money but will end up testing your inclination towards having street food. A vacation without having the food from the land is a waste of travel.
Take a time out
While planning for your vacation keep a day or two just to sit chill, unwind and relax while you are on a holiday, you do need a break to just catch a breath of all that fun and thrill that comes with being free from the 9-5 rut. So the best way to go about it is to plan a pit stop before hand, so this timeout works as a way to soak in all that’s happened since you left from home.
Do something new
This is pretty much a default everyone should end up with at least trying their hand at something new either physical or mental while on the road traveling. Don’t just do the ordinary touristy things when you’re planning a vacation: keep at least a day or two to hike or try out something which ain’t on the regular tourist bucket list.
Be open to randomness
No vacation is perfect, it never ever was or will be but it’s when things don’t go as per plan and you end up going with the flow that’s when you actually end up having the vacation which becomes a memory highlight for your life to later tell stories. If things don’t go as per plan for whatever reason be open to change and that will make a world lot of difference.
Find inspiration in little things
Sometimes it’s the small things along the vacation which catch your eye the most. It could be the table presentation or even just a tiny insect taking time and observing how things around you operate and survive.
Be curious with the locals
Make friends with the correct locals and life on your vacation will be a lot smoother than you can ever imagine. From finding the best places to eat, to exploring places which are off the tourist map all this and more is only possible when you end up befriending a local who can help you discover and experience a place in depth.
Write down your ideas
While on vacation, you’ll end up thinking of various creative and innovative ways to make your life better and all this is only possible to execute is you end up penning things down. Be it a physical travel diary or even on your smartphone using a digital notepad. The best way to remember anything is by writing it down. This actually helps make a random thought into a constructive output.
Take a photo of what you find
Not everything can be writing down some things, just a picture and that’s where the smart phone you are using will come very handy. Taking a photo of things which will help spark your creativity, later on when you get back to the regular settled world life, it will help you at times when you’re searching for inspiration. All you’ll need to do is flip through your phone and recreate the image which was taken during your holiday.
Find a creative cafe to hang out at
No matter where you end up going for a vacation you will find at least one to two cafés which will help spark the missing or subdued creativity that’s in you. There is no better way to trigger creativity than sitting in a cafe which helps unlock the creative side of your mind and body.
Walk as much as you can
Walking is one of the best ways to get a first hand grip of what the reality of life and the place you are on holiday is like for the people who call the place their home. The more you walk, the more you’ll end up noticing things you never expected. Always keep the places which are within walking distance to be explored on foot.
