Kasol, a tiny hamlet and a hill station located in Parvati Valley, Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh is a backpacker’s paradise. The recent explosion to Kasol has led to commercialisation and a bloom in the number of restaurants, cafes and roadside eateries. Kasol also is known as the mini Israel is a base point for many treks. Here are 10 eateries one can visit when backpacking in Kasol.

1. Sunshine Cafe Kasol –

This is the perfect place for one who likes to chill indoors. Famous for their original hot chocolate, must try if you’re visiting this cafe. Their pizza, burgers, sizzlers and Chinese food is pretty good. The good thing is that pets are allowed here and the ambience is quite laid back.

2. Little Italy-

For all who want to taste authentic Italian food, Little Italy is the best place. It’s is located in Old Kasol and a good place.

3. Evergreen-

Located in New Kasol, Evergreen is the right mix of an outdoor cafe and indoor sitting place for large groups. The service is fast, food is good. Particularly their potato and mushroom soup is a must-try. The outdoor sitting is in a garden-like space and candlelight is lit up as soon as the evening progresses.

4. German Bakery-

There are a handful of German Bakeries in Kasol. But there’s one near the bridge, also known as the Moon Dance Cafe. The breakfast combos are the best and so is their baked items. The cheesecake and apple crumble are the best in Kasol.

5. Namaste Dhaba-

This place serves some really good Indian food and the service is pretty quick. So next time if you’re in a hurry and low on budget, head to Namaste Dhaba.

6. Falafel King-

Located in Old Kasol, this place may seem a little shady. But one will end up meeting a lot of Israelis and travellers as the place is always full. The menu seems quite affordable and the food is good too.

7. The Himalayan Dhaba-

Next to the bus stop on the main road, is Himalayan Dhaba. Thali and authentic Indian food are best enjoyed here. Although a dhaba, the ambiance is a little hippie and one can chill here too.

8. Shambu Momo-

Located right across bridge is this place that serves momo on the go and is a street food eatery. The momos both veg and non-veg are delicious.

9. Street food Tandoori-

Next to Shambu Momo, is another street food eatery that serves lip-smacking tandoori. Malai tikka is a must-have, here. Fortunately, they also sell tandoori trout which is decently priced.

10. Tibetan food-

Two shops away from the wine shop located at the Kasol bus stop is this shop owned by a Nepali family that makes noodles and most of their food from scratch. Their momo soup, thukpa, chow mein and fried rice are just so economical and tasty.
