10 most spoken languages in the world

Nǐ hǎo, Hola, Hello, Namaste, marhabaah, Olá, Hyālō, Zdravstvuyte, Kon’nichiwa, and Sata srī akāla. These words are ‘Hello’ in the 10 most spoken languages in the world. Those languages are: 

Chinese:

Yolo Manali Chinese

The whole of China’s population i.e. 1.2 billion speaks Chinese including 1 billion who also speak mandarin. Populations from Taiwan, Singapore, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam Philippines, UK, USA and France also speak Chinese. There was also a time when many students were taught Chinese because apparently one day the Chinese would rule the world. 

Spanish:

The Spanish common words known by everyone in this planet are Hola and Adios. But there is a huge part of the world’s population who speak the language fluently. Many countries in Latin America like Mexico, etc. have their official language as Spanish. A part of the north American population also speak Spanish. 

English:

Languages

Today all kinds of conversation happen in English. Business, travel, and international relations are all done in English. In fact even in a country like India, English is the top spoken language. 

Hindi:

The primary language of India. Although India has 23 languages the main language is Hindi. The two dialects which are Hindi and Urdu come from Hindustani. Some of the words in English like jungle, shampoo, and bungalow come from Hindi. Don’t be surprised cause most of Hindi is actually Sanskrit, the origin of languages. 

Arabic:

Around 250 million people today, the natives speak Arabic. Under Arabic come a large number of dialects which sound vastly different but under the same branch. The UAE has the largest number of Arabic speakers. 

Bengali:

Surprised that Bengali came in this list? In 1947 the British partitioned Bengal into the West and East Bengali, now known as Bangladesh. Around 130 million speak Bengali in Bangladesh. Other than West and East Bengal, the Andaman islands also houses the speakers of this language. 

Portuguese:

Portugal with the European Union had set up their colonies which gradually lead them to spread their language there as well. With 220 million speakers, Portuguese ranks the 7th most spoken language with people in Brazil, Mozambique, Goa, Angola and Cape Town who speak this language. 

Russian

With over 153 million speaking the language, Russian ranks 8th in the most spoken languages in the world. Russian is one of the six languages spoken in the United Nation. Famous for its strict grammar and the Cyrillic script, many authors have also thrived in it. 

Japanese:

Almost 128 million in the world speak Japanese and most of them are concentrated in Japan itself. Japanese text systems are majorly of two types hiragana and katakana which make use of the Chinese Kanji letters. Other than Japan, large concentrations of Japanese people are found in USA, Philippines, and Brazil.

 Lahnda:

Lahnda is western Punjabi. Like Bengal, the Britishers had divided Punjab giving a part to Pakistan and the other half remains in India. The Punjabi spoken in Pakistan is Lahnda which is spoken much more than Eastern Punjabi.
