While Fort Kochi is the cultural and art hub, Ernakulam is a financial and commercial hub. The erstwhile capital of the Kingdom of Kochi has been an incubator for many Malayali entrepreneurs.

The temples, churches and culture of the city are what draws many travellers to the city. The Kochi international airport and Ernakulam junction railway station are what get most of these to the city.

There are many shopping malls, eateries all around. Three bridges have been built around – rainbow bridge, Chinese fishing nets bridge and houseboat bridge.

The food in Ernakulam is more on the authentic side with Kerala cuisine available easily. Rabbit is a must-try delicacy in authentic local masala.
