Situated in Changthang plateau of eastern Ladakh, Tso Moriri is another beautiful lake in Ladakh. Pangong Tso lake is getting famous because of its beauty. Yet not many know about this lake. But there are many travellers or tourists who have visited this lake already. This lake doesn’t have many resources due to its remote location. Here are some things you should keep in my while visiting this lake.

Tso MoririProper permits
Tso Moriri is located in eastern Ladakh near Korzok village. Most of the eastern part of Ladakh is still isolated because of its sensitive geographical location. Citizens are not allowed to travel to eastern Ladakh because of the proximity of China. So while visiting this lake you make sure you have proper permits and your address proof or government ID.
Good transportation
The lake is situated in eastern Ladakh around 230 km from the capital city Leh. The roads are not in good condition and because of this, the ride becomes tiring. Taking a local bus is going to be hard. So choose your vehicle wisely. An Innova or Xylo will be good for Tso Moriri.
Be prepared for the cold
Ladakh is a cold desert in summer. Sometimes it gets extremely cold after sunset, especially in this region. So while visiting make sure you have enough warm clothes to survive here for the night. Good accommodation is also important.
Accommodation
The distance from Leh to the lake is really tiring. Make sure that you book the best accommodation. This will help you with many things like hot water and heater facilities which are important to have in your room or tent.
Food
The remoteness of this place makes the resources limited. It is far from Leh, secondly, there are not many options to eat. So don’t expect fancy food here. You will get the basics like momos, thukpa and dinner which includes dal, rice, chapati and vegetable dishes. You can carry some packaged snacks from Leh if you want.
Medication and health
This is a high altitude lake and remoteness of this lake makes it more dangerous for a person having breathing problems, altitude sickness or asthma patients. You won’t find any proper hospital or clinic, if something happens, you have to drive back 230km to Leh. So while planning this trip, carry your important medications.
Cash and ATM
As of now, there is no ATM in Tso Moriri. Make sure that you carry enough cash because there you will not get any Paytm transaction as there is no internet. All the guest house and tent owners deal in cash only.
