Always remember never to go hiking alone
Have some company than be alone and in unforeseen circumstances an extra person would be worthwhile. Also, the weather can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Keep a tab on the weather forecast to avoid getting caught in any natural calamities. Keep in mind that you have to walk with your bag no matter where you go. Having a heavy bad would not be one of your best decisions.
Ask for help
If you ever think you’re lost, don’t hesitate in asking for directions. Normally the locals are very helpful. Even though I was skeptical in the start, the first time I spoke to a local to ask how much longer the walk would be, he told me it was about an hour more to be walked. After which he said also added, that his house was just around the corner and that I could stop there for a cup of tea. Which I did as I was very tired. Just ask and you’ll be surprised with all the help you’d receive.
Keep the pace
The pace you walk in is also an important element of hiking. You have to find your pace, one in which you are walking at a good speed however not getting tired or breathing heavy. If you follow this you wouldn’t need a single break in a two-hour climb up a mountain. Keeping a check, that on regular intervals your drinking water and eating light is important. Fruits are the best option to fill your stomach and also keep you light on your feet.
Longer the better
Try your best to avoid taking shortcuts while hiking. Around the world, most of the hiking mishaps have happened while trying to explore a new path or a shortcut to the destination. It could end up as the worst idea you’ve ever had. Especially when hiking alone, stick to the route that has already been taken. That can really help you stay alive.
No selfies, please
There have been hundreds, if not more, deaths due to people trying to get the best selfies. I mean it’s okay to pictures, but at that price, no way. The way to get a picture is to ask someone to take it for you. You’ll certainly get a much better picture and also you’ll be alive to share it. So that about it, by just going through once should help you have a wonderful experience while going hiking. Stay safe and please don’t die.
