Fun Things to Do During a Weekend Trip to Dublin
If you’re planning a weekend break in Dublin, you won’t be short of fantastic things to do.
While this has its benefits (you won’t end up bored), with a limited amount of time, it can be difficult to narrow down your itinerary.
For those short on time but who want some choice, we have compiled a list of 3 fun things you can do in Dublin, and encourage you to at least choose 1!
Trinity College and the Book of Kells
Trinity College and the Book of Kells are iconic and hold great cultural significance; these experiences offer a glimpse into the history of Ireland, as well as its art and intellectual heritage.
Founded way back in 1592, Trinity College is Ireland’s oldest university and one of the most prestigious in the world. Walking through the magnificent campus is almost like stepping backwards into a bygone era, and is a must-see if you’re an avid fan of architecture!
The Book of Kells is like its beating heart, and showcases wonderful medieval artistry, with mesmerising illustrations and ornate lettering that was created by monks over a thousand years ago.
Taking it in really is something special and, in our opinion, a visit to Dublin isn’t complete without a visit there.
A Meal, Drink, or Dance at Bad Bobs
Bad Bobs is a glorious establishment, nestled right in the heart of Dublin’s famous Temple Bar.
Now, you very well may have found bars in your time that are one-dimensional, lacking in character, and generally not up to the standards you had expected.
However, Bad Bobs is different. This bar is split into numerous floors, including standard and cocktail bar areas, along with a rooftop terrace.
Whether you just want a quiet meal, some alcoholic drinks after a day of sightseeing, or to watch some fantastic live music, you’ll find what you’re looking for at Bad Bobs.
The live music scene is big in Dublin, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you have varied music tastes and like to support up-and-coming talent.
The National Museum of Ireland
The National Museum is a brilliant attraction in Dublin and is a good choice if you like your history, because you can learn more about Ireland’s culture and global significance.
It is based across a few locations, but the archaeology branch on Kildare Street is particularly special, home to some Viking treasures!
Free to enter, the museum’s sites all give visitors a better understanding of the country’s importance, from centuries ago to modern times.
Have Fun!
We hope you have a brilliant time in the Irish capital, and with the array of activities right at your fingertips, we are sure that you will!
Our list isn’t a strict ‘this is what you should do’ itinerary, and it’s not even one in which we’re saying do everything we suggest. However, our top picks are ones that are popular for tourists who visit Dublin, and we hope that you can make time for 1 or 2!
