Five places to visit in winters in India

If summers in India are harsh, winters are either pleasant or extreme depending on the region. However, India has its own winter charm and there are some places which are absolutely breathtaking if visited in winter.

The northern states, especially the region enveloped by the Himalayas attract tourists who seek to see and play in the snow. Rajasthan, famous for its culture and traditions intrigues a hoard of foreigners and Indians alike who visit the region and marvel over its many palaces and temples. Here are some places to visit in winters India:-

1. God’s own country : Kerala

The backwaters and The Western Ghats adds to its unique charm and make this place a beautiful and one of the best destinations in India at the time of winters. Beaches, wildlife sanctuary, national park, Alleppey backwaters, spice gardens, spas and Ayurveda make this place more attractive and a perfect destination for your vacations.  Another things that make Kerala an amazing Indian winter destination is topography.

2. Munnar

One of the famous honeymoon destination and a tea lovers place in Kerala. Munnar can be visited any time of the year as the temperature falls to 11 degree Celsius in winters.  It is suggested that you should book your hotel in advance as people come here to enjoy the gentle cold weather and its beautiful view. Activities you can do here are rappelling, trekking and rock climbing and you can also visit these Anamudi, Devikulam, Mattupetty, TATA Tea Museum, and Eravikulam National Park which are tourists attractions and make this place more amazing.

3. Manali

Manali is one of the famous tourist destinations of India and people not only from different states but also from different countries come here to enjoy the view of snow-capped mountains. You can also explore the nearby hamlets like Kasol, Manikaran, Rohtang and you can also trek from this place to many as it offers small to long, easy to difficult treks. Manali is best to visit in winters as you can witness the snowfall there. You can perform many activities in Manali like snow skiing, rope climbing, river rafting and etc. 

4. Shimla

Shimla is also called the queen of hills. You can enjoy in winters the most as it witnesses snow every year at the time of winters. Crowd flocks here to enjoy the winters and snow here it is one of the most tourists attracted place in India. Two hours drive from Shimla there is Narkanda which is also a must-visit place.

5. Gulmarg and Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir

Gulmarg is magical whole year but when winters arrive it is wholly covered in white snow which makes this place one of the must-visit place of India in winters. You can enjoy the panoramic view of this winter wonderland by cable car. When you’re done with enjoying the beauty of Gulmarg then just a two-hour drive away lies the winter paradise Sonamarg. Sonamarg is covered in white from November until April. You can enjoy the frozen lakes and Thajiwas Glacier, it serves as a perfect place to enjoy snow activities, like skiing, snowboarding and sledge rides.
