8 things to do in Kutla, Himachal Pradesh

Kutla is a remote village in Parvati Valley, located at 2800 metres ASL. It is accessible through the village of Tosh and is a three kms trek from there. The trek is scenic, offering spectacular views of snow-capped mountains and gushing waterfalls. Here are 8 things to do in Kutla:

1. Visit waterfalls-

The trek to Kutla starts from the village of Tosh. The trek halfway runs parallel to the River Tosh and beautiful waterfalls can be experienced at different points. During the summer month of May, there are cafes near the waterfalls that pitch tables right next to the waterfalls, run by the locals.

2. Trekking through fruit orchards-

Kutla is filled with apple trees plantations. Even the trek route that starts from Tosh has walnut tree plantations. During season time, August, lush apples can be seen hanging and loaded on trees.

3. Stay in a rustic wooden house-

Kutla, fortunately, has stayed untouched and has a few rustic wooden guesthouses. One can rent it for a night for as low as Rs.500 a day. The tiny cabin accommodates 2-3 people easily and has an unmatched charm.

4. Chill at the cafe-

There are plenty of cafes en route Kutla as well as at Kutla. The cafes are small, rustic and a great place to meet fellow travellers.

5. Visit Budhavan-

Budhavan forest is trekkable through Kutla. It offers scenic views and the trek is through uncharted forest cover. Get lost in nature’s lap.

6. Look at snow-capped mountains-

Once one stays at Kutla, one feels as if they have moved closer to snow-capped mountains. They look more accessible and as if they are quite nearby. One can stare all day long at the mysterious mountains and lose track of time.

7. Play with a local dog-

Local Himachali dogs are in plenty when trekking to Kutla and otherwise in Parvati Valley as well. These furry dogs are very friendly and end up accompanying you till the end of the trek.

8. Enjoy local food and siddu-

Siddu is made out of yeasty dough and has stuffing that can be either sweet or savoury. It is available on the way while trekking to Kutla. Also, the cafes and guesthouses at Kutla serve local food such as paratha and thali. These might be simple, yet very enjoyable when in the lap of Himalayas.

So next time, you’re heading to Parvati Valley, make sure to tick off Kutla from your travel bucket list.
