Kerala’s natural beauty is unmatched, but it was that they noticed a gap—there weren’t enough well-designed, comfortable, and reasonably priced stays near tourist hotspots. The duo wanted to change that. The villa is owned by Dr. Sivakumar, and together they brought the concept to life. The day-to-day operations are run by Sujith.

How it all started for Cocoon Earth Villa
Started in 2024, just a year ago, it’s been an eventful ride since for the property and those behind it. They have also continuously upgraded the property. This is a passion project between friends. Their families enjoy spending time at the villa during off-season, making the most of the pool and the “no-rules” comfort of a truly relaxed home.
It’s been an incredibly fulfilling path for the two of them to see people from all over the world feel instantly at home at Cocoon Earth Villa. What makes it extra special is when their guests appreciate the aesthetics and cleanliness—all achieved using local talent and materials.
The USP
Privacy is one of the most cherished features of the stay. Cocoon Earth Villa is not just a place to sleep—it’s a space where guests can live. Whether it’s planning their own days with rented bikes, enjoying the freedom of a flexible itinerary, or barbecuing in the backyard under the stars—guests feel like they’re in their own private retreat, not just another stay.

From the moment they arrive, guests are encouraged to treat the villa like their own space. The team is just a call away, and the caretaker with her family lives close by but otherwise, their time is truly theirs. Many enjoy cooking or grilling in the backyard, swimming at their own pace, or simply relaxing with a book in peace – in the quiet natural neighbourhood. But still 400 metres away from Kovalam Junction.
It’s the feeling of belonging. Guests don’t just stay at Cocoon—they live here, move at their own pace, grill in the backyard, plan their own adventures on bikes, and take home memories of a Kerala that felt personal and peaceful.
A typical day
There’s no “typical” day, and that’s the beauty of it. Some guests at the Cocoon Earth Villa might begin with a homemade Kerala breakfast, rent a bike and head off to explore Kovalam’s coastline, and wrap up their day with a barbecue dinner by the pool. Others may prefer a full day of stillness and solitude.
Others take a morning tuk tuk ride to the richest temple in the world “Padmanabhaswamy temple” and stroll streets and study the architectural wonders of ancient Travancore kingdom – have breakfast at the tiny joints around the temple which serve amazing vegetarian food and yet some others head to Poovar for boating.
Evenings are mostly at the shacks in Kovalam enjoying sea food, taking dips in the ocean and chilling with friends or family. The choice is completely theirs.

Something special
The Cocoon Earth Villa offer guided cultural and heritage tours, and connections to local wellness centers for Ayurvedic experiences. For guests who prefer spontaneity, they also provide curated self-exploration guides. For those discerning ones they also connect them to dependable travel houses offering curated experiences across the state or to other stays like theirs in Varkala or Fort Kochi and Munnar.
The place is built with clear influences from Kerala architecture, the décor, the music, and even small gestures of hospitality. From handcrafted wooden elements to evening folk performances on request, Kerala is alive in every detail at the Cocoon Earth Villa.
Food fun
Cocoon Earth Villa doesn’t have a seprately running kitchen but the place has food delivery from over 150 restaurants in the vicinity and even from the city. The guests love the appam and stew, Kerala-style fish curry, and the crispy banana fritters from nearby hotels and restaurants some known for their delicacies in both vegetarian and sea food cuisine. They also welcome guests to cook their own versions in the equipped kitchen or grill fresh local seafood outdoors.
Onam and Vishu are favorites with guests at the Cocoon Earth Villa. Christmas season is very active at Kovalam. They dress up the villa and invite guests to participate in the celebrations with traditional attire, floral decorations, and special festive meals.

Modern and traditional meet
The Cocoon Earth Villa has seamlessly blended both modern amenities and traditional Keralite hospitality. From air conditioning and high-speed Wi-Fi to bamboo woven lampshades and mud plaster on walls, teakwood furniture, the experience is a perfect mix of comfort and culture.
Sustainability is integral to them. Using eco friendly toiletries, rainwater harvesting, and sourcing locally—not just food but even furnishings—are part of their ongoing mission to stay earth-friendly. They also employ local staff, promote local artisans and small businesses, and encourage guests to shop, eat, and explore locally.
Local collaboration
The décor of the place is a showcase of local craftsmanship. They also partner with local guides and nearby restaurants amd ayurveda wellness centres for immersive experiences that let guests truly feel Kerala’s heartbeat.
Best memory
A family from France canceled their second leg of travel just to extend their stay at Cocoon. They said it was the first time they felt a vacation gave them exactly what they needed—peace, privacy, and the freedom to just be.

Challenges
Starting something during uncertain times meant navigating staffing, setup, and marketing without a blueprint. But with resilience and local support, Sujith Francis and Dr. T.T. Sivakumar created something they are truly proud of. The journey is still on for the two.
Guests often praise the serene atmosphere, personalized touches, and the “home away from home” feeling. Many mention how much they enjoyed being able to plan their own relaxed itineraries with zero pressure. And the pool ofcourse is a crowd favourite with guests.
They built a team that is open, adaptable, and welcoming. Simple gestures, genuine smiles, and an attentive ear often go a long way—even when language doesn’t. They are looking to enhance the wellness and cultural offerings, introduce more eco-friendly upgrades, and potentially open a second villa and a third that carries the same DNA as Cocoon.
They are also exploring tie-ups for yoga retreats, artist residencies, and eco-tourism. The idea is to build a community, not just a customer base.

Words of wisdom
“Don’t just build a room—build a story. If you create something with heart and connect it to the local soul, guests will come, love it and keep coming back,” feel the men behind the Cocoon Earth Villa.
In the beginning, they used to personally welcome every guest, and even guide them around. While they’ve grown and streamlined some operations, that personal touch and warmth hasn’t changed—it’s still very much a part of who they are.
