Kutla village

A quick getaway from Tosh: Kutla, Himachal Pradesh

Located at 9186 feet ASL is the village of Kutla. Kutla is lesser explored and has fewer places to stay. It is a quick getaway from Tosh and almost an hour-long trek from it. Tosh is famous for its scenic views of snow-capped mountains and snow cover in winters, but it is slowly getting commercialised.

Kutla village

Kutla is still untouched and does not have any concrete buildings like Tosh. The hour-long trek to Kutla is scenic and runs through several streams from the Tosh River and beautiful waterfalls. The waterfalls are peaceful and this is where the trek becomes steep. The trek from Tosh is three kms and from the waterfalls can take up to at least an hour. There’s also a recent dam built which gives birth to another spectacular waterfall visible from Tosh.

The village is filled with greenery and there are barely a handful of guesthouses and camping places. One can stay in guesthouse like Olive Garden and other camping options are readily available. The food in Kutla is very basic and limited to paratha and veg thali. The best time to travel is during the summer between April to October. The monsoons months of June and August are best to be skipped as the village receives a lot of storm and trekking can get difficult.

Kutla hike

Kutla

Budhavan forest is accessible through this village. The trek to Budhavan forest is scenic and passes through thick forest cover. The trek to Kutla feels closer to nature. The serenity and the views there of snow-capped mountains are worth seeing. These make one feel as if the glaciers are a stone throw away. The icy cold water that has just melted from the nearby glaciers is pure and has untouched Himalayan water. So next time, you’re in Parvati Valley, make sure to visit Kutla and get swayed by its natural beauty.
