With the beautiful lakes and historical monuments and the Rajasthani way of life, Udaipur is a bustling city with many things that one can do. Here are 10 of the must do things while in the city of lakes Sit by Doodh Talai In the heart of Udaipur, lies the small pond that is located adjacent to Lake Pichola. Doodh Talai looks splendid with its beautifully made arches and white minarets. They are the perfect spot to spend some time posing at. Boat ride on Lake Pichola The artificial fresh water lake has two islands with Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir located within Pichola Lake. A better view of these as well as the former palaces now turned into hotels is available from the boat. Explore City Palace The largest palace in the state of Rajasthan, City Palace is a must visit with its splendid view of Lake Pichola. The museum fees are steep but they are definitely worth the rates for those wishing to see some royal finery. Visit Bagore-ki-Haveli The 18th-century haveli that is set on the water’s edge in the Gangaur Ghat area of Lake Pichola was built by a Mewar prime minister. This museum is a splendid place which has a beautiful museum and is a must see. Enjoy nature in Saheliyo Ki Bari The beautiful gardens of Saheliyo Ki Bari have wonderful fountains and lotus pool in addition to green grass which is perfect to sit and chill by. The Courtyard of Maidens is a nice place to have a fill of literally being in the lap of nature. Ride the ropeway One of the must do things in Udaipur is view the city of lakes from the ropeway that goes from Karni Mata temple to near Deen Dayal Gardens. The ropeway offers a beautiful look at Lake Pichola, the City Palace, Jag Mandir and the other palaces in the water. Watch the musical fountain The Deen Dayal gardens which are also known as Udaipur’s sunset point offer a magnificent view of the sun in the evening. The garden has a beautiful view of Lake Pichola and the city of Udaipur ahead. The Deen Dayal garden also has a nice musical fountain which is a must watch while in the city. Witness a puppet show The Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal has a wonderful museum that shows the history and culture of Rajasthan. The mandal also has a nice puppet show and traditional Rajasthani dance show which is a must see when in Udaipur. Spend time by Lake Fateh Sagar The lake has Moti Magri, a memorial for Maharana Pratap located above it and within it are the Udaipur Solar Observatory and the Nehru Gardens. There are boat rides which take you across the artificial lake named after Maharana Fateh. Shop for authentic Rajasthani souvenirs A city known for its handicraft treasures, fabrics, souvenirs, jewellery, crockery, footwear and puppets, Udaipur has many must buy things. The one thing to keep in mind is to bargain while buying as the things are always overpriced. Other places worth visiting are Sajjangarh Monsoon palace and biological park, Vintage Car Museum, Ahar Cenotaphs, Shilpgram, Ambrai Ghat and tasting an authentic Rajasthani Thali.
