5. Kheerganga

Located in the midst of the forest in Parvati Valley and situated at a height of 13,051 feet above sea-level, Kheerganga looks like a painted scenic picture with snow-clad mountains on all sides, the hot springs here have sulphur used for bathing as well. If you’re a lover of trekking and camping, this is the ideal place for you. Kheerganga does not have any permanent guest houses, but has life-size tents making it cosy in the cold weather with their famous chocolate milk.

You can even explore the neighboring Hippie villages of Kasol, Tosh and Pulga popularly known for their cafes, hash and food. The best season to experience Kheerganga is during the months from March to October. It’s a great place to celebrate your birthday without network.

6. Chitkul

Situated 8,960 above sea-level, Prashar Lake lies 49 kms from Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh. With a temple built in the 13th century, the lake has a picturesque view also considered sacred by many. Surrounded by snow-clad mountains, here the air is clean and is the best view to try out your photography skills. The road to the lake is breath-taking and an experience by itself. The best time to visit Parashar is in from February to December.

8. Majuli

Located in the Brahmaputra River, Majuli is the biggest river island in the world, with a receding area due to soil erosion. The place is famous for its houses built on bamboos and has the popular Kaziranga National Park located just four hours away. You can also travel to the neighbouring state of Shillong from here. The best season to enjoy Majuli is during the months from November to April.

9. Chandra Taal

Popular known as the moon lake in Spiti Valley, Chandra Taal gets its name from its crescent shape lake. You can see the massive lake after a two km hike passing through a terrain which will simply blow your mind, reaching a small hill lock. On a full moon night, the entire reflection on the moon is seen in the lake. However, this place is only accessible from mid-June to October.

10. Turtuk

Situated in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh, Turtuk is the last village that permits people to travel in Kashmir. Inhabited by the Balti people of Tibetian descent, Turtuk is one of those hidden places along with the neighboring Nubra Valley which is untouched by tourism. The story of the relocation of Baltistan in 1971, is very interesting to listen to from the locals and will always leave you with goosebumps. The best time to visit Turtuk is during from May to September.
