Eid in Leh

Tlow No1 comfortable accommodation in Ladakh

While travelling around Leh-Ladakh where you stay actually makes the whole difference in the outcome of your holiday. At tlow, we have pretty much hand picked our accommodations around Ladakh over the course of the last 10 years starting way back in 2013.

Ladakh is a region located in the northernmost part of India, bordering Tibet to the east and Pakistan to the west. It is part of the larger region of Jammu and Kashmir and is often referred to as “the land of high passes” due to its mountainous terrain and numerous high-altitude mountain passes.

Leh Ladakh

Since Leh is now a small touristy city in Ladakh, we stay near the Leh main gate in a guest house owned by Lhawang’s childhood friend. The reason we moved out of Halema aunty’s place is since 2022 she put her home stay for lease, so without Halema aunty there is no purpose in living there.

The new guest house has a similar room setup with cosy rooms and solar hot water to take a morning shower. But the best part about where we stay in Leh is that everything is within walking distance. Leh main market is about 700 meters, the start to Khardungla is around 200 meters and the airport is about one km away. Bus stop and taxi stand is around 300-600 meters in radius from the guest house.

Hunder

Nubra Valley home stay is all about greenery, Shayok river stream and cottages. With a mind blowing view of the mighty trans-Himalayas, it is a place which is run by Halema aunty’s brother and his son, Abdul. Their hospitality is phenomenal and the food is excellent. The cottages are very cosy, clean and spacious and all have hot water via a solar geyser and western washrooms.

Our home stay cottages are located away from the main tourist center which is the main reason why this area isn’t conjugated with construction. Our stay in Hunder will easily live up to all the expectations you have about a night under the starry night sky of Nubra Valley.

Sangam

Tangtse

About 30km prior to reaching Pangong Tso, the village of Tangtse is pretty much the last village where you can have a decent night stay while getting enough time to chill by Pangong and not have to deal with the brutal cold that comes along with the lake.

Tangtse is a home stay run by a local family which has very cosy rooms with thick quilts so it is one of the best places to halt for the night and break the journey while travelling to Pangong Tso. Be prepared for some very good food which is mostly dal rice, egg curry, pappad, roti, rice.

Alchi Leh Ladakh

Dal Lake

In the middle of the lake is our home stay in a floating house boat run by three brothers who have split up their responsibilities to work like a well oiled machine. The rooms are cosy and have attached bath rooms and come with very good Kashmiri interiors.

Kargil

A mid way stop while on the journey from Srinagar to Leh. The accommodation is a deluxe class guest house with attached washrooms and spacious rooms. The location is close to HDFC bank atm and is very convenient to move around this tiny Himalayan town.

Yolo Manali

Our very own Yolo Manali is located 400 meters from Bhanu bridge. Pretty much the best place to start or end your Ladakh road trip. With cottages and Swiss tents this is pretty much an experience by itself. Located away from the hustle and bustle of old and new Manali, our Yolo location in Manali is perfect way to unwind after the road trip.
